Birth Doula Care

If you’re wanting to feel even more prepared, deeply supported, and ready to birth your own way, whatever that looks like, then welcome – you’re in the right place.

Why have a birth doula?

Taking control of your birth experience is about tuning into what feels right for you, making choices that honour your values, instincts, and the vision you hold for your baby coming into the world.

In today’s maternity system, it can be easy to feel swept along by routine processes and statistics that don’t always reflect the kind of birth you’re hoping and dreaming of. But birth doesn’t have to follow the norm, it can be personal, powerful, and tranformative.

As your doula, I listen, hold space, and gently guide as you explore your options, curate your birth preferences, and navigate birth.

I can help you find your unique balance between evidence and intuition, so you can make decisions that feel truly aligned with your wishes – whether that’s a cosy home birth, an informed-led induction, or a planned caesarean filled with intention and care.

A doula brings continuity of care that the NHS can’t usually provide. With continuity of care research shows you are more likely to experience:

  • shorter labour & reduced likelihood of interventions and induction
  • less need for pain relief
  • lower chance of a cesarean
  • a better chance of breastfeeding success
  • a more positive experience overall

Areas I Cover

I provide birth doula support across South West London and North Surrey, including:

  • Merton
  • Kingston
  • Sutton
  • Wandsworth
  • Croydon

I regularly support families birthing at St Georges, Chelsea and Westminster, St Helier and Epsom, Kingston, St Thomas’ and Croydon hospital trusts, though I’m happy to discuss other locations.

My doula care wraps around your entire birth experience, from pregnancy through to those early days with your baby. Here's what that looks like:

Antenatal

Time together in pregnancy over a cuppa to explore your hopes, dreams, and fears around birth. To learn about birth, comfort measures, mindset tools through the Mindful Natal course, or to fill in any gaps if you’re already confident in your birth knowledge and preferences. This is time to build on your power, and your team heading into birth and new parenthood.

On-call period (from 38.5 weeks)

This is when you can reach me day or night, ready for labour. In these final weeks I’ll be your sounding board and reassurance through the limbo of waiting, 40+ week appointments, any curveballs, and those first signs of labour.

Early labour support

Labour can take it’s time. You will already know what to expect from your antenatal preparation, but sometimes little reminders alligned with your birth plan, can be helpful. These will usually be over the phone, but you can also call on my in-person support.

Active labour & birth

As labour progresses I will be available to join you in-person and stay with you until after your baby is born. You can labour away knowing I’m there if and when you need me – from setting up and protecting your birth space, providing emotional or physical support, reminders or additional info on your birth preferences, navigating twist and turns, to being your advocate, all with my calming presence.

The Golden Hour

Not to be overlooked! The golden hour after birth is a powerful time for bonding, recovery, and your start together. As your Doula, I’ll protect your space and wishes so you can lean into this time.

Postnatal Support

Talking through your birth can be joyous or healing. I’ll hold space for you to talk it through, honour your feelings, and find clarity. I can also provide reassurance on newborn behaviour and breastfeeding.

Frequently Asked Questions

I hope your question is answered here. If not, please get in touch

Yes. Included in the packages is a 2 hour birth debrief to talk through your experience, help you process how things went, and support your emotional recovery. (If you want breastfeeding or more regular help, we can also talk about adding postnatal doula care.)

There are plans in place for this! I often support more than one family at a time, and no more than 3. I work with a wonderful Doula community and we do back-up for each other. So if I attend another birth a doula colleague will be available to you on the phone, and if needed, support you in-person until I am available again.

Payment terms are 50% for my support to start, secure my availability your due time, receive first resources, and book our sessions together. This is followed by monthly payments totally the remaining 50% so the fee is paid in full by 38+4 when 24/7 support commences. I am open to discussing alternative payment plans if needed.

I am based in Morden, in the London Borough of Merton. I support families across South West London and North Surrey, birthing with/at St George’s, Chelsea & Westminster, St Helier, Epsom, Kingston, St Thomas’, and Croydon. See my area map here.

Yes. I offer the Mindful Natal® course, which combines hypnobirthing and mindfulness. If you’ve already done a hypnobirthing course I may still support you without doing the class again.

Yes, I have attended freebirths and see such power in birthing this way. To book me for freebirth this would be under the Mindful Natal package, and we’d meet in-person before booking.

I’d love to hear about it! Birth is so personal and I truly adore and take pride in tailoring my support to your unique wishes.

I help you create birth preferences rooted in your values, intuition, and evidence. If labour shifts, I’m here to gently guide, remind you of what feels right, and support you to communicate with the health care team. The birth debrief  (included in all packages) can be really helpful for when birth has followed an unexpected path.

I stay for the ‘golden hour’ to hold space, support bonding, and protect your wishes. I will then stay for another 1-3 hours depending on the birth, your recovery, and to make sure you have had something to eat and drink, and a shower if you are able to and want one. Un-planned caesareans often mean I cannot be with you immediately after the birth, in these situations I remain available for phone support instead.

If I am available I will support you as usual. I share any planned holidays at the time of booking, and any other diary plans will be discussed with you closer to the due time. If you know or suspect that your baby is likely to be born around or earlier than 39 weeks then we can bring the on-call period forward.
